Largest Obstacle In Business

Over the years, I have assisted hundreds of individuals in starting their own businesses, and in almost all of those cases, they faced the same obstacle. The same seems to be true for everyone starting their first business, regardless of age, gender, or nationality.

The obstacle I’m speaking of is the mental aspect of running your own company and taking on the responsibilities that come with it.

From a very young age, we are taught to work for others, in a school system that never even introduces us to the possibility of being self-employed. So, it is a big challenge to go against everything our parents and teachers told us.

For some of us, this might even be the first time we truly test our independence and go our own way, no matter what everybody else might say. With such a big decision, it is important to find the right environment and the right people who are supportive of such a choice. That is why it can be a good idea to seek out people who have gone through the same experience you’re about to face. You most likely know someone who has started their own company, but if you don’t, then a good way to find these people is by attending lectures, conferences, and seminars. Nowadays, you can also find entrepreneurial centers, incubators, and business accelerators in most countries, all of which specialize in assisting people who are starting their companies.

Unfortunately, the chances of your first business becoming successful are not very high, since the percentage of businesses that do not survive their first few years is rather significant. That’s why working in the right environment—where failure is not the end but a lesson—is so important. You must also believe in yourself and your idea. If things go badly and your business does not work out, you must be ready to try again. Most of the successful people I know have become successful because they didn’t give up; they continued even after one or two business ideas failed.

Be courageous when you start your own company, and seek assistance from those with experience.
