For the past three weeks, I have been working on organizing what I believe will be one of the most interesting conferences in Iceland so far. I’ve spent nearly all of my free time—mostly evenings and weekends—planning and preparing for this event.

I’ve gathered some of the most fascinating entrepreneurs in Iceland, and they have all agreed to share their stories about how they got started as entrepreneurs and how they built their companies. The conference will take place on June 18th, the day after Iceland’s Independence Day, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, followed by an evening networking meetup.

Here are the incredible people who will be sharing their experiences at the conference:

Haukur Guðjónsson, Búngaló (myself)

Haukur is the founder and CEO of Búngaló, a platform that helps Icelandic families earn extra income by renting out their vacation homes when they’re not using them.

He also has extensive experience in Iceland’s entrepreneurial environment, having worked with several entrepreneurial centers and taught entrepreneurship independently as well as at the Iceland Academy of Arts.

Hjálmar Gíslason, DataMarket

Hjálmar is the founder and CEO of DataMarket, a data portal that provides access to statistics and structured data from various public and private sector organizations.

He is a serial entrepreneur and technology enthusiast. DataMarket is the fourth company he has founded in the tech sector. Before starting DataMarket in 2008, he worked on the development of Ja.is for Iceland’s largest telecommunications companies.

Ingi Gauti Ragnarsson, Bland.is

Ingi is the founder and CEO of Frontur ehf., the company behind Bland.is, one of Iceland’s largest websites. Bland.is is a communication platform with a special emphasis on blogs for parents, pet owners, and more. Frontur also operates three websites abroad, focused on parenting.

Ingi has worked as a programmer since 1998 and, during that time, has founded three companies.

Torfi G. Yngvason, Arctic Adventures

Torfi is the CEO and one of the founders of Arctic Adventures, an Icelandic adventure and activity company that emphasizes eco-tourism and environmentally friendly trips in Iceland’s stunning nature. Their trips include river rafting, snorkeling, super-jeep tours, horseback riding, ice climbing, snowmobiling, and more.

Torfi has extensive experience in the Icelandic tourism industry and previously worked as an adventure guide before becoming CEO of Arctic Adventures.

Colin Wright, Ebookling

Colin is an American entrepreneur, writer, and CEO of Ebookling, a platform that helps publishers of all kinds elevate their products and make a living from their work.

Colin also runs Exile Lifestyle, where he writes about entrepreneurship, travel, and extreme lifestyle experiments. His readers vote on a new country for him to move to every four months. For the past few months, he has been living in Iceland after his readers voted for it.

Elinóra Inga Sigurðardóttir, Royal Natural

Elinóra is the founder and CEO of Royal Natural, a company that manufactures organic dog treats made exclusively from dried fish skin with no additives or preservatives.

She is also very active in the entrepreneurial scene. She hosts a TV show called Entrepreneurs and is one of the founders of KVENN, Women in Innovation.

Vilborg Einarsdóttir, Mentor

Vilborg is the founder of Mentor, a leading Scandinavian company in the field of Information and Learning Management Systems for schools, with a focus on individualized learning. Its flagship product, InfoMentor, has been developed in close cooperation with schools for over 20 years.

Today, their solution is used in over 900 schools in Sweden, Switzerland, and Iceland.

Tóti Stefánsson, Mobilitus

Tóti is the founder of Mobilitus, a company providing mobile web and alert services in a hosted environment. Mobilitus is a bootstrapped startup, proudly self-financed the old-fashioned way—through revenue.

Over the years, Mobilitus has worked with many of the world’s largest companies, including Intel, Ericsson, Vodafone, Sprint, AT&T, and more.
